An aquatic, deciduous grass suited to bog gardens or a shallow pond shelf. Tufts of erect, slightly arching foliage with striking cream and green variegation. In spring the bases are bright pink. Acorus gramineus ‘Argenteostriatus’ forms rhizomes like an iris and is commonly known as ‘Sweet Rush’ because the roots and leaves have a spicy scent. They were traditionally used to scatter over earthern floors to add fragrance. Height: 80cm (31in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

Plant Acorus in reliably moist borders or boggy soil at the edge of ponds. Slender Sweet Flag can be planted to a maximum depth of 5cm (2") below water level. Choose a position in full sun.

Acorus plants require little maintenance. Tidy foliage that has died back in Autumn by trimming to just above the water surface.
