This beautiful perennial is a phenomenal bee and butterfly magnet and a wonderful additional to a wildlife garden or informal border. From midsummer to autumn it produces eye-catching purple flower spikes and the whole plant has a delicious liquorice scent. It associates well with swaying grasses such as Pennisetum. The aniseed-flavoured flowers are edible and can be used for cake decorations. Height: 80cm (31"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Plant Agastache into any well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. Plants can cope well with drought conditions.

Plants can be short-lived and will dislike wet winters, although can be propagated easily by division in the spring.
