Place your Zebra plant in bright natural light but not in direct sunlight. They enjoy warmth and high humidity, so a kitchen or bathroom is ideal. Water as the compost begins to dry out to keep the root zone moist but not wet. Aphelandra squarrosa will benefit from year-round regular misting to increase humidity; alternatively, you can stand the plant on a ‘humidity tray’ containing pebbles and water (ensure the water level remains below the bottom of the plant pot). Feed monthly during spring and summer with a universal liquid houseplant feed and remove faded flower stems to the base. Keep above 13ºC.
