This distinctive Columbine will stand out from the crowd in your early summer borders. Gleaming white and vivid scarlet blooms with long spurs make an eye-catching combination. This is sport of the similar variety Aquilegia ‘Red Hobbit’, which has been selected for its taller habit. The upright stems make this an excellent cut flower. Aquilegias ‘Red Dream’ is a reliable perennial, retuning year after year. A lovely choice for dotting through the front of cottage garden borders and wildlife gardens, where its blooms always attract pollinating insects. Height: 70cm (28"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Columbines hybridize readily. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead faded aquilegia flowers to prevent them self seeding. Aquilegias dislike disturbance but overcrowded clumps may be lifted and divided in spring when necessary.Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
Pot up aquilegia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. Grow aquilegias in sun or part shade in any fertile, moist, well drained soil.
