This deciduous, hardy shrub has many advantages. Perhaps the most notable of these is the spectacular display it puts on in autumn; its leaves turn fantastic shades of red and purple before falling. Not to be outdone, its black-red berries are both attractive and persistent, remaining on their stems well into the winter. The Chokeberry produces delicate, white blooms in the spring, which release a sweet, subtle fragrance. Equally impressive is its foliage's compact, spreading habit, which makes Aronia x prunifolia 'Aron' an excellent choice for flowerbeds and borders in cottage, wildlife and woodland gardens. Height: 1.5m (4'11"); Spread: 2m (6'7").

Grow Chokeberry in a wide range of different soils, they can cope with drought conditions as well as waterlogged ground, once plants are established. They will grow very well in slightly acidic soils. Grow in sun or light shade.

Aronia plants require very little maintenance, just trim to fit space and remove any dead, diseased or damaged growth.
