Vibrant red foliage with a fine yellow edge gives this dwarf shrub the appearance of being on fire. Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Admiration' produces small pale green flowers in spring followed by red berries in autumn. It's small stature makes this Japanese Barberry perfect for edging the front of borders or growing in patio containers. Fully hardy and easy to maintain, this colourful deciduous shrub has been awarded an RHS AGM. Height: and Spread: 60cm (24").

Plant barberry shrubs in borders in any moist, well drained soil in full sun or semi shade. Grow berberis plants in a sunny position for the best fruits and flowers.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young berberis plants become established. Mature barberry bushes require only occasional pruning to tidy old or misplaced stems. When pruning berberis plants remove only a quarter of the oldest shoots back to the base of the plant immediately after flowering.
