Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
This upright, deciduous shrub forms a dense vase-shaped bush with maturity. The spiny stems of Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Red Rocket' are cloaked in rounded, dark burgundy leaves, which transform to a blaze of red in autumn. The clusters of small, yellow spring flowers are followed by scarlet berries which are loved by birds. Like all Japanese Barberry plants, this variety is hardy, reliable and easy to grow. A superb choice for bringing colour and interest to the back of sunny, mixed borders. Height: 200cm (78"). Spread: 150cm (59").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Flowering Months

1 berberis plant in 9cm pot (kb1156)

Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged.
Berberis require little maintenance once established. Trim back the stems lightly after flowering, removing dead or damaged growth at the same time.
