Awarded an RHS AGM, this well known cultivar is deservedly popular. The mottled pink and red foliage gradually darkens to purple and red in autumn making a superb contrast with spring flowers and bright red, late summer berries. Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Rose Glow' is as versatile as it is pretty, making an attractive specimen shrub in garden borders or trimmed as a prickly hedge to deter intruders. Tough, resilient and easy to grow, this deciduous shrub is a must have. Height and spread: 150cm (59").

Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged.

Berberis require little maintenance once established. Trim back the stems lightly after flowering, removing dead or damaged growth at the same time.
