When it comes to plants that are great for attracting butterflies, Buddleja is hard to beat. On warm summer days, they can become filled with butterflies, that feast on the plants nectar. Buddleja 'Butterfly Towers' with mauve-purple flowers, is a new upright variety, that grows in a tall, compact column, making it ideal for small gardens, as well as a plant for the back of wide herbaceous garden borders, up against a drab wall or fence. Planted in rows, it can make a beautiful informal hedge. Height: 2m (6'). Spread: 1m (3').

Feed and water container-grown plants regularly. Buddleja planted directly into borders will require only occasional attention. In spring, prune buddleja plants back to a permanent low framework of 3 or 4 buds from the base of the plant. Deadhead faded buddleja flowers to prolong the flowering season.
