One of the darkest butterfly bushes available, Buddleja ‘Black Knight’ produces majestic panicles of rich purple-black blooms. The sweet, bubblegum scented flowers attract clouds of butterflies and beneficial insects, making this an ideal plant for a wildlife garden. This fast growing deciduous shrub is particularly easy to grow and needs little attention once established. Height: 3m (10’). Spread: 4m (13’).

Buddleja is a versatile plant that will grow in most sites and soil conditions, but particularly enjoys sunny borders in any moist, well drained soil.

Feed and water buddleja plants until they are well established. Once established, Buddleja requires little attention throughout the growing season and is reasonably tolerant of dry soil. In spring, prune all buddleja stems back to 3 or 4 buds from the previous year’s growth and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
