Description How to Grow Delivery Reviews
Calycanthus 'Venus' is a sweetshrub that has beautiful, exotic flowers, that flower in May and then intermittently throughout summer and into autumn. The heavily scented, magnolia-like flowers have contrasting purple and yellow centre markings. It is a deciduous shrub with  elliptic to ovate, glossy, mid-green leaves which turn golden-yellow to brownish in autumn. It has a dense and relatively compact habit, making it a perfect choice for an average sized UK residential garden. Height: 1.8m (6'). Spread: 1.5m (5').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Height Up to 180cm (71in)

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, prune Calycanthus floridus in early spring as the buds begin to swell. Cut back all stems to a low permanent framework, 3 or 4 buds from the base of the plant. After pruning Carolina allspice, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
