Compact, bushy, and brilliantly floriferous, this Madagascar Periwinkle keeps flowering right through from May into autumn with an outstanding coverage of dazzling 5-petalled flowers against a backdrop of glossy green foliage. Heat won’t slow it down—this beauty is as tough as it is pretty, making a long-lasting , easy-care display for containers, baskets, bedding and even indoors on a sunny windowsill. Pot up Catharanthus plants and grow them on in warm frost free conditions until all risk of frost has past. Use a free draining soil mix as Catharanthus resents poor drainage. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions before placing in their final positions outside. Choose a sheltered position in full sun.

Feed and water Catharanthus plants regularly throughout summer. Although perennial, these plants require a minimum temperature of 5C (41F), and are therefore best grown as annuals in the UK. However they may be overwintered in a heated greenhouse or conservatory. Reduce watering in winter, keeping the compost barely moist.
