Grow Cercis in rich fertile, moist, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or dappled shade. Incorporate plenty of organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, into your border prior to planting.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until plants are fully established. Cercis trees naturally form a pleasing, often multi-stemmed tree. Little pruning is needed except to remove any damaged or poorly placed branches in late winter if necessary.
