Cercis siliquastrum, the Judas Tree, brings long-lasting interest to the garden. A bushy, well-balanced tree, it is often planted for its architectural value. The Judas Tree offers spectacular spring colour, with rosy-pink blossom produced on mature stems, giving a pendant effect.Spring flowers are followed by attractive, heart-shaped leaves that turn glowing yellow in autumn. Very little pruning is required to keep the Judas Tree looking great, just removing dead, damaged or diseased growth. Plant into moist, well-drained soil. Height and spread: up to 10m (32').

Flowering Months
Water regularly throughout the growing season until plants are fully established. Cercis trees naturally form a pleasing, often multi-stemmed tree. Little pruning is needed except to remove any damaged or poorly placed branches in late winter if necessary.
Grow Cercis in rich fertile, moist, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or dappled shade. Incorporate plenty of organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, into your border prior to planting.
