Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Fernspray Gold' is a spectacular conifer with fresh lemon-yellow foliage that cloacks the horizontal branches. This majestic Hinoki Cypress has a dense upright habit that forms an exclamation mark in the landscape. The colourful evergreen foliage makes it a particularly useful specimen tree for brightening dull winter gardens. This superb cultivar also holds an RHS AGM for its garden performance. Height: 300cm (118"). Spread: 150cm (59").

Grow Cypress trees in moist, well drained soil. Chamaecyparis prefers a neutral or acid soil but does tolerate chalky soils well. Choose a position in full sun.

Once established, Cypress trees require virtually no maintenance. When grown as a hedge, prune Chamaecyparis at any time between late spring and early autumn, taking care not to prune into older wood.
