A handsome, silvery blue conifer with a pleasing conical shape at maturity. The foliage takes on a purple tint during particularly cold periods that adds some seasonal interest. Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Baby Blue' forms an attractive tree over time, making a fine feature as an individual focal point, or grown side by side as an evergreen hedge. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 80cm (31").

Grow Cypress trees in moist, well drained soil. Chamaecyparis prefers a neutral or acid soil but does tolerate chalky soils well. Choose a position in full sun.

Once established, Cypress trees require virtually no maintenance. When grown as a hedge, prune Chamaecyparis at any time between late spring and early autumn, taking care not to prune into older wood.
