The Chinese Money Plant, also known as the Missionary Plant, is a great houseplant for shelves and window ledges. It has rounded, glossy leaves, that surround a central, upright stem, with a neat and compact habit. In summer it has frothy, tiny, cream-pink flowers. It is best situated in a light shaded position, in a warm room, and is low maintenance, making it ideal for living rooms at home, or to add some greenery in an office. Height and spread: 50cm (20")

Grow Chinese Money Plants in a lightly shaded position away from the glare of direct sun. Pilea requires a frost free position in a cool room or conservatory, with a minimum temperature of 5C (41F).

Pilea can be moved outdoors during the summer months and returned to a frost free position in autumn. Water little and often to keep the compost reliably moist between spring and autumn. Allow the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth.
