Gradually acclimatise Choisya plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before planting into their final positions in any well drained soil in full sun, with shelter from strong winds. Partial shade is tolerated but foliage will be less golden in this situation. Plant Choisya ternata 'Sundance®' at its original soil level and firm well before watering to settle the soil. Alternatively grow Choisya in patio containers filled with loam-based compost such as John Innes No.3.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until Choisya plants are well established. Mexican Orange Blossom requires little attention, but benefits from a trim each year to keep it neat and tidy. After flowering, trim or lightly cut back shoots to a healthy pair of buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant in spring.
