Clematis All Season Collection contains a versatile selection of clematis for every season including both herbaceous and climbing varieties. Providing colour from summer until autumn, Clematis ‘Glorious Day’ and ‘Glorious Red’ provide continuous blooms on walls and supports whilst the herbaceous Clematis ‘New Love’ flourishes in borders. Come winter and the show resumes, when Clematis ‘New Love’ is smothered in dainty, nodding bells from December to February against lush, evergreen foliage.

Clematis All Season Collection comprises the following varieties:

  • Clematis viticella ‘Glorious Day’ - Rich purple, semi-double to single flowers up to 10cm wide, from mid-summer to autumn. Pruning group: 3. Height: 2.5m (8.2ft). Spread: 1.5m (4.9ft).
  • Clematis viticella ‘Glorious Red’ - Deep red, velvety flowers, 8-10cm diameter with starry, slender petals and contrasting yellow stamens. Flowers from late summer to autumn. Pruning group: 3. Height: 2.5m (8.2ft). Spread: 1.5m (4.9ft).
  • Clematis ‘New Love’ – A bushy, self-supporting herbaceous clematis. Star-shaped, indigo blooms with slender, reflexed petals and a sweet fragrance. Best grown amongst tall perennials. Superb gap filler. Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 50cm (20"). Pruning group: 3.

4 x 7cm Potted Plants (KF8609)

Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3") below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.

Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.

Pruning group 3:

This variety of clematis flowers in late summer on the current year’s growth. Pruning should be undertaken in spring before active growth begins. When pruning group 3 Clematis, cut back all of the previous year’s stems to a pair of healthy buds at around 20cm (8") above ground level.

Pruning group 1:

This variety of clematis flowers in early spring on the previous year's growth. Pruning is minimal, but any required should be undertaken in summer, after flowering. When pruning Clematis 'Winter Beauty', remove any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a pair of healthy buds to maintain the plant within its allotted space.
