Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
The main attraction of this beautiful Clematis is its subtle large flowers which unfurl into shell-pink blooms with purple/brown stamens. The flowers appear in July and this climber continues to delight with more blooms through to September. An excellent hardy perennial for the beginner or for experienced Clematis growers, this compact climber can cope with almost any garden situation including shady and north-facing walls through to bright sunny positions. As for most Clematis, sunshine can cause the flowers to fade, but the soft mauve is equally attractive! Grow Clematis 'Hagley Hybrid' up a trellis, on a wall, against a pergola and through shrubs, this neat and reliable plant - often called 'Old Man's Beard' - is even happy in a pot and is therefore suitable for smaller gardens. Height: 2.5m (8'). Spread: 1.5m (4' 11"). Pruning group: 3.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Flowering Months
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. When pruning group 3 Clematis remember that they flower on the current year's growth. In spring, simply cut back all of the previous year's growth to a pair of strong buds at the base of the plant. Afterwards, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
Grow Clematis in sheltered sunny borders in any moist, well drained soil. Clematis plants particularly dislike dry soils so add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve moisture retention in summer. Plant clematis with the top of the rootball positioned 7.5cm (3”) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support, such as trellis or wires attached to fences and pergolas. Alternatively grow clematis up freestanding plant frames in patio containers. When planting in containers, use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
