Clematis ‘Kardynal Wsyzynski' is a late-flowering variety, producing large, single, dusky-crimson flowers with maroon anthers and a grey-pink reverse. Ageing blooms slowly fade to a lovely deep pink, and their neat star-shape relaxes to give a softer outline. When mature, this plant flowers continuously from early summer right through until the autumn. It is well-respected, and has a particularly graceful form. Grown on a large obelisk in the cottage garden, or patio containers, it produces a delightful billowing effect. Height: 3m (10'). Spread: 1m (3'). Pruning group: 3.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Flowering Months
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. When pruning group 3 Clematis remember that they flower on the current year's growth. In spring, simply cut back all of the previous year's growth to a pair of strong buds at the base of the plant. Afterwards, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
Grow Clematis in sheltered sunny borders in any moist, well drained soil. Clematis plants particularly dislike dry soils so add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve moisture retention in summer. Plant clematis with the top of the rootball positioned 7.5cm (3”) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support, such as trellis or wires attached to fences and pergolas. Alternatively grow clematis up freestanding plant frames in patio containers. When planting in containers, use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
