Not only does this Japanese Clethra have large panicles of beautiful white flowers throughout late Summer, bringing butterflies and bees into your garden, it also has naturally peeling bark in the Autumn to add yet further interest! Clethra barbinervis is a hardy, upright shrub which will tolerate shady spots either at the back of a large bed or border so it is ideal as a structural plant to give depth and year round interest in the garden. Plant Japanese Cedar into any moist, but well-drained soil acid soil. Choose a sheltered position in partial or dappled shade.

Clethra are easy maintenance plants, which only require minimal pruning. Simply prune out any dead, diseased or damaged growth.
