Cordylines make excellent house plants, providing stature and colour to any setting. Cordyline fruticosa 'Tango' forms an upright cane of broad, strap-like leaves that cloak its slender, woody stems. The variegated foliage of this variety is grey-green with broad cerise pink margins, making an attractive display all year round. Cordylines are easy to grow, and won’t require much maintenance. Perfect for a warm, brightly lit room, away from the direct glare of the sun. Height: 1m (39"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Position Cordylines in a warm room away from cold draughts and radiators, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). For the best leaf colour, choose a bright position in good light, but away from the glare of direct sun.

Water freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible, and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Cordyline appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant. The lower leaves of Cordyline will naturally die back as the plant grows. These should be carefully removed, to maintain a tidy appearance.
