Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
As the name suggests, this variety of Dogwood sports red flowers in spring rather than the usual creamy white ones. These hardy shrubs are becoming increasingly popular in garden design as they have a structure and form that is both eye pleasing and also neat and tidy. Another bonus feature of this shrub is that its blooms are attractive to bees and butterflies so it will draw them into your garden where you can enjoy seeing them. Due to its neat compact habit, Cornus ‘Royal Red’ is also suitable for growing in large containers too. Height: 180cm (71"). Spread 180cm (71").

Plant Dogwood into garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full shade or part shade. Cornus is a very useful shrub, as it can also tolerate damp soils or an exposed position.
To encourage plenty of colourful stems, Dogwood will need regular pollarding in early spring. Cut back all Dogwood stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a permanent low framework. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after this pruning. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
