If you want year-round interest from a garden shrub then Cornus should be on your list of 'must-haves'. The variety Cornus sericea 'White Gold' sums up it's features in it's name. It has clusters of white flowers in late spring amongst variegated leaves with white borders. The flowers are followed by white fruits in late summer and to finish off the season the naked yellow stems bring a welcome highlight to a wintery garden. White Gold is a hardy deciduous shrub and is worthy of a place in any mixed border. Height: 150cm (59”). Spread: 100cm (39”).

Flowering Months
Water dogwood plants regularly throughout the growing season until fully established. After two years, Cornus will benefit from regular pollarding to encourage the brightest winter stems. Prune Cornus hard in early spring by cutting back all stems to within 3 buds of the base or to a permanent low framework. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of dogwood shrubs in spring.
Plant Cornus in a sunny position, in any well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. Cornus will happily grow in improved clay soils. Caution: Dogwood berries are harmful if eaten and the leaves may be irritant to skin and eyes.
