With beautiful water lily type flower heads, Dahlia 'Creme de Cassis' is a lovely plant to add to your garden, either in garden borders, or in pots and planters. It has light pink petals, with contrasting dark pink undersides. It begins to flower in June and will continue to bloom well into autumn, long after other flowers are past their best. It is half-hardy, so it can be planted for one season, or the tubers can be lifted from the ground and protected from frost during the winter, then replanted again. Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
