Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

This dinky little dahlia may be small in stature but it’s a big performer, rewarding even small, narrow borders with an easy boost of summer colour against strikingly dark foliage. The single flowers are a deep magenta which pop with colour against the dark purple foliage and are produced continuously from June to September. These well branching and compact plants make perfectly behaved, low maintenance pot specimens which don’t require staking. The flowers are great for cutting and are attractive to pollinators. Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 25cm (10in).

1 x 1 Litre Potted Plant (KC9089)

Pot up Dahlia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise dahlia plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out in beds, borders and containers. Choose a position in full sun on any rich fertile, moist, well drained soil.
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
