Delospermum congestum is a spreading, mat-forming succulent that is ideal for rockeries and gravel gardens, containers, tumbling over walls, and ground cover in dry sites. This hardy Ice Plant becomes studded with masses of bright yellow daisy-like flowers in summer, whilst the small, densely packed fleshy leaves flush red in the winter for additional interest. Hailing from South Africa, this drought-tolerant, heat-tolerant hardy succulent is easy to grow and needs virtually no maintenance, thriving in even the poorest soils providing it has excellent drainage and receives full sun. Height: 5cm (2in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

Delosperma thrives in poor sandy, sharply drained soil, in a sunny, sheltered position. Add plenty of sharp grit to the soil prior to planting in order to improve drainage and prevent the roots from rotting.

Delosperma requires little maintenance. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings and feed every 3 weeks whilst in active growth.
