Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

The Guardian series of delphiniums have been bred to flower earlier than other varieties. Delphinium 'Guardian Blue’ will create spectacular, strong-stemmed spikes of semi-double flowers of deep blue with a clear white eye from early summer onwards. True blue is a rare colour in flowers, but delphiniums excel in this colour spectrum and make a striking feature at the back of the border. With its sturdy stems, Delphinium 'Guardian Blue’ is also well-suited to cut flower production. Height: 1.2m (4'). Spread: 75cm (30").</p>

Pot up plants into larger containers. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days and plant out once all risk of frost has passed. When growing Delphiniums, choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds, on moist, well drained soil. Protect young delphinium plants from slugs and snails.
Feed and water delphinium plants until they are fully established. The tall stems of delphinium flowers will require staking with stout canes. Canes should be put in place by mid spring to ensure that the plants are adequately supported throughout the growing season. Cut spikes of faded delphinium flowers back to a flowering side-shoot to encourage a second flush of blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut the old foliage back to ground level. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
