Arching branches clothed in dark green leaves provide the perfect foil for panicles of star-shaped, white and pink-blushed flowers. The midsummer blooms fill the air with their alluring sweet perfume. Grow Deutzia in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in full sun.

Feed and water Deutzia plants regularly until fully established. Once established, Deutzia shrubs will require little attention. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a pair of healthy buds. On mature plants, remove a fifth of the oldest shoots from the base of the plant. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
