An outstanding and reliably floriferous shrub with exquisite, gem-like flowers and a graceful habit. Slender branches arch elegantly, carrying masses of small, star-shaped white flowers with yellow centres in May and June. The flowers are held in clusters of up to 15 blooms. The white flowers are set off against a backdrop of small, dark green leaves which are white beneath. A robust specimen which tolerates all soils. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread: 1-1.5m (39-59in).

Grow Deutzia in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in full sun.

Feed and water Deutzia plants regularly until fully established. Once established, Deutzia shrubs will require little attention. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a pair of healthy buds. On mature plants, remove a fifth of the oldest shoots from the base of the plant. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
