Masses of pretty pink flowers adorn the arching branches of this attractive, deciduous shrub. The panicles of white star-shaped flowers with pink-tipped petals are produced in abundance from late spring to midsummer and are highly attractive to bees. Winner of an RHS AGM and naturally compact in habit, Deutzia x hybrida ‘Strawberry Fields’ is fantastic for a low maintenance garden, making an elegant addition to sunny or partly shaded borders. Height and spread: 2m (6.5'). Supplied in a 9cm pot.

Flowering Months
Water regularly throughout the growing season until deutzia plants are well established. Deutzias require little attention. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a healthy pair of buds. Deutzia x hybrida ‘Strawberry Fields’ can be pruned hard after flowering to maintain a shorter height of approximately 1m (39"). On mature plants cut back about one quarter to one fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to promote strong new growth. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant in spring.
Pot up Deutzia plants and grow them on in cool frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. When plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them in borders outdoors. Grow Deutzia in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or semi-shade; it will grow happily in improved clay soils.
