Dog roses are possibly the simplest form of rose and yet are perfect as a thorny yet pretty barrier for your garden boundaries. The nature of the Dog Rose is to form a dense thicket of stems which will deter both animal and human intruders. During the summer pale pink or white flowers cover the hedge, giving welcome colour, these blooms will later develop into bright red rose hips which are enjoyed by wildlife over the winter months. Supplied as 60 - 90cm bareroots (24 - 35") Height: 400cm (157"). Spread: 250cm (98"). Planting Distance: 50cm (20"). (3 plants per metre for a single line hedge)

Flowering Months
Feed and water rose plants regularly .In late summer, begin pruning rugosa roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
