Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
A wonderfully versatile evergreen shrub with a profusion of delicately scented pink flowers all summer long, which are attractive to bees. The small glossy leaves of this RHS AGM variety persist throughout winter, providing colour and structure in even the bleakest months of the year. Robust and easy to grow, Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ is a fantastic shrub for low-maintenance gardens, thriving in coastal situations and difficult clay soils. Escallonia shrubs also make superb evergreen hedging plants. Height and spread: 2m (6.5’).

Flowering Months
Water regularly throughout the growing season until Escallonia plants are well established. In areas with extreme winters, Escallonia ‘Appleblossom’ are best given some winter protection with horticultural fleece. Escallonia requires little attention, but benefits from a light prune each year to keep it neat and tidy. In mid to late spring, trim or lightly cut back any shoots which spoil the symmetry of the plant, just above a healthy bud. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant in spring.
When plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before transplanting into borders outdoors. Grow Escallonia in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun, with shelter from cold winds. Escallonia shrubs will happily grow in improved clay soils.
