The Eucalyptus gunnii is a versatile hardy plant that can be easily pruned into a shrub but will also grow quickly into an evergreen tree. Parts of the Australian Ironbark can even be included in flower arrangements. Also known as the Cider Gum, the juvenile foliage is silvery blue and rounded. It transforms into linear green leaves as the plant ages. Mature specimens feature an interestingly patterned trunk shrouded in impressive flaking bark. Height: 25m (82'); Spread: 10m (33').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow eucalyptus trees in any fertile, non alkaline, free draining soil that does not dry out. Choose a position in full sun with shelter from cold winds.
Feed and water eucalyptus trees regularly until fully established. Once established, eucalyptus trees are reasonably drought tolerant and will require less attention. Unless it is intended as a specimen tree, Eucalyptus will need regular pruning in early spring to restrict its vigorous growth. Cut back all stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a permanent low framework.
