Eucalyptus websteriana ‘Botanic Hearts’ stuns with blue-green, heart-shaped to egg-shaped leaves that shimmer silver in the breeze. Its youthful, rounded juvenile foliage adds style to summer patio displays and is a favourite with florists for its unique shape and light-reflecting colour. As the foliage matures it becomes more elongated. The leaves are highly aromatic and can be crushed and added to hot water to release their scent which is great for deterring flies and mosquitoes. Eucalyptus websteriana ‘Botanic Hearts’ is a frost-tender evergreen tree that can be grown as a compact, multi-stemmed shrub in a patio container and then moved to a frost-free position to overwinter. Plant eucalyptus trees into any fertile, non alkaline, free draining soil that does not dry out. Choose a position in full sun with shelter from cold winds. Tender species should be grown in patio containers and moved into a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory to overwinter.

Feed and water eucalyptus trees regularly until fully established. Once established, eucalyptus trees are reasonably drought tolerant and will require less attention. Unless it is intended as a specimen tree, Eucalyptus will need regular pruning in early spring to restrict its vigorous growth. Cut back all stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a permanent low framework.
