A compact version of the Winged Spindle, delivering outstanding autumn colour in small to medium gardens. Euonymus alatus ‘Unforgettable Fire’ is a spreading, deciduous shrub, distinguished from other varieties by its dense, fine branching and smaller leaves creating textural interest and structure throughout the season. Dark green summer foliage blazes magenta pink in autumn, making a spectacular focal feature. Additional interest is provided by the small fruits that split open to reveal orange seeds plus the corky, winged branches that are visible in winter.

A low-maintenance, drought-tolerant shrub that requires little to no pruning, Euonymus alatus ‘Unforgettable Fire’ is an excellent structural shrub for mixed borders or as a stand-alone specimen. Height: 1.5m (4.9ft). Spread: 2m (6.5ft).

Grow Euonymus plants on moist, but well-drained soil in full sun or partisl shade. Plants will tolerate exposed and coastal gardens, and may give better autumn colour when grown in full sun.

Spindle trees are low maintenance and require very little pruning - simply trim them to remove any dead, diseased or damaged growth. Caution: harmful if eaten.
