Perfect for those challenging shaded areas beneath deciduous trees, or meandering through cottage garden borders! Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea' is a compact evergreen perennial that will seed freely once established, making superb groundcover. Its beetroot-purple foliage contrasts beautifully with the acid-yellow flowers in late spring making an eye-catching display. Commonly known as Wood Spurge, this hardy perennial is at its best when planted as a woodland understorey. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Grow Euphorbia amygdaloides in sun or light shade on moist, well drained soil. On heavier soils, incorporate plenty of grit to improve drainage, prior to planting.
Cut back Euphorbia amygdaloides immediately after flowering to encourage fresh growth from the base of the plant. Always wear gloves when pruning Euphorbia plants to protect skin from the milky sap. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
