An architectural evergreen shrub with eye-catching variegated leaves which add year-round interest to the garden. In spring, tall stems of striking cream flowers rise above the neat mounds of silvery foliage for a long-lasting and colourful display through to early summer. With drought resistance and a neat upright habit, Euphorbia 'Tasmanian Tiger' is perfect for low-maintenance borders, and the exotic-looking flowers are a great source of spring nectar for pollinating insects. Try cutting a few blooms of Mediterranean Spurge for a long-lasting flower arrangement indoors. Height and spread: 90cm (35"). Supplied as plug plants.

5 Plug Plants (V57481)

CAUTION: All parts are toxic if eaten and irritant to skin and eyes. Pot up Euphorbia plants and grow them on frost-free conditions until large enough to plant outside. When Spurge plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting outdoors. Grow Euphorbia characias in well drained, light soil in full sun; they resent winter wet. Mediterranean Spurge is hardy to -10°C (14°F) and is best grown in a sheltered position. Alternatively grow Euphorbia characias in large patio containers of loam-based compost such as John Innes No.3, which can be moved to a sheltered position over winter.
Water Euphorbia characias plants regularly until fully established. Once established, they are drought tolerant. In summer, cut back faded Euphorbia flower stems to the base to make way for new growth which will flower the following year. Make sure you wear gloves to protect skin from the irritating milky sap. In areas with extreme winters, Mediterranean Spurge is best given some winter protection with horticultural fleece. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Large established clumps of Euphorbia characias can be lifted and divided in early spring.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
