Fatsia japonica is a firm favorite for adding a tropical note to gardens. A fast-growing, low-maintenance shrub, hardy and evergreen. Its architectural value lies in glossy palmate leaves, 45cm (18") wide and weatherproof. This robust and long-lasting shrub is perfect for providing instant impact, whether filling in gaps in the borders, or planted in a pot on the patio. Globular white flowers formed in summer are popular with pollinating insects, and followed by black seedpods by autumn. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, Fatsia Japonica is happy in sun or shade, and loves fertile and moist, well-drained soil. Height and spread: 2.5m (8.2'). Please note: Ceramic pot not included

Fatsia requires a moist, but well-drained soil. Japanese Aralia copes well in most positions from sun to dappled shade, but does appreciate a sheltered spot.
Although generally low maintenance, Fatsia does benefit from and tidy up in spring, to remove any unsightly shoots or tattered foliage.
