Gerbera 'Garvinea Sweet Maggie' boasts semi-double flowers in an unusual combination of hot pink petals with a contrasting green centre.

These hardy Garvinea Gerberas have been bred for robustness – no need to hide them in the greenhouse – they will survive the winter outdoors in the border! High resistance to pests and diseases and great weather tolerance guarantees colour from early spring to the first frosts. Superb for containers on patios and balconies or adding a splash of long-lasting colour to mixed borders. Spare a few for a vase indoors, as they make superb cut flowers. Height and spread: 30cm (12in).

Pot up gerbera plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into their final positions. Plant gerberas outdoors in fertile, well drained soil in sheltered, sunny borders. When growing gerbera in patio containers, use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.

Feed and water gerbera plants regularly throughout the growing season. Cut back faded gerbera flowers from the base of the stem.
