Honeysuckle is a traditional cottage garden favourite for it deciduous twining stems and opulent display of summer flowers. With a lovely compact habit, Honeysuckle ‘Celestial’ is perfect for climbing over an obelisk to create a garden focal point. Whorls of apricot-pink flowers make a showy display against the dark green foliage. As you might expect, the blooms are perfumed with an exquisite fragrance. Plant honeysuckle against a suitable, sturdy support such as trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas, in fertile, moist, free draining soil. Poor soils can be improved by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade. When growing honeysuckle in patio containers, use soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.

Feed and water Lonicera plants regularly until they are fully established. Trim hedging specimens as required during the summer, and again in autumn.
