Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
The aromatic flowers of this strong-growing hardy climber have been used for centuries in beer-making and are still used today for their distinctive flavour. Bright green, palmate leaves provide a dense covering on twining stems, followed by large green, cone-like flowers or ‘hops’ in mid to late summer, which fade to a straw colour. A unique cover for walls, fences or pergolas, hops are herbaceous perennials so will die back over winter and re-grow vigorously in the spring. Hop flowers also make attractive cut flowers, either fresh or dried. Height: 6m (20'). Spread: 2m (6.5'). Supplied in 9cm pots.

Height Up to 600cm (237in)

Grow hops in fertile, moist, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve moisture retention in summer. Be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support, such as trellis or wires attached to walls, fences and pergolas.
Water Humulus lupulus plants frequently until fully established. In spring, cut the dead stems back to ground level and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
