Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews

Colossal blooms form spectacular cone-shaped flower heads of up to 40cm (16”). This mighty Hydrangea is a sight to behold! Its strong stems carry the summer flowers proudly above its bushy, green foliage, creating a long-lasting focal point for lightly shaded borders. In autumn, the foliage turns to bright shades of orange and gold, adding a final splash of colour to fading borders. Hydrangea paniculata 'Hercules' is a hardy, deciduous shrub which copes well in those challenging north facing positions. A lovely choice for a woodland garden! Height and spread: 200cm (79").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
