Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
Hydrangea petiolaris flowers in summer, producing lacy white blooms that contrast stunningly with its abundant dark green foliage. When summer turns to autumn, the heart shaped leaves transform into a buttery shade of yellow that will illuminate even the darkest corner. This shade loving Hydrangea is ideal for cold, north facing walls that seldom see the sun. This variety is the holder of an RHS AGM and despite being slightly slow to get going, it will quickly climb fences and walls with its clinging aerial roots once established. Height: 10m (32'). Spread: 3m (10').

Caution: irritant, harmful if eaten. When growing Hydrangea petiolaris, choose a sunny, semi shaded or full shade position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Plant Hydrangea petiolaris against a wall or fence in rich moist, non alkaline, well drained soil. Add plenty of well rotted manure to improve heavy clay or light sandy soils. This climbing Hydrangea will cling and support itself via aerial roots.
Water Hydrangea plants regularly until fully established. Prune Hydrangea petiolaris immediately after flowering by reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
