Kolkwitzia amabilis is a fast-growing deciduous shrub that produces masses of exquisitely detailed trumpet flowers, held on curved stems, during May and June. It is not hard to see why this plant is also known as the 'Beauty Bush'!

Not commonly seen in the UK, this hardy shrub will be one of the first to begin flowering in summer; perfect for extending the colour season in your garden. Kolkwitzia amabilis is extremely versatile and will grow happily in many different types of soil. For a stunning display, plant at the back of a mixed herbaceous border. Height: 3m (10'). Spread: 4m (12').

Kolkwitzia enjoys a well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay.

Kolkwitzia plants are low-maintenance and easy to grow. After flowering, prune back flowered shoots to vigorous sideshoots.
