Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
A neat little perennial that is usually reserved for alpine houses, but modern breeding ensures that Lewisia ‘Elise Mixed’ flowers in its first year - making it perfect for bedding! The starry blooms in bright, tropical colours are produced above neat rosettes of evergreen foliage. Lewisia copes well in hot dry conditions but is equally happy in cooler summers, and can even be overwintered outdoors with some protection from wet weather. Perfect for growing as an eye-catching bedding plant, or brightening up rockeries, patio containers and window boxes. Supplied as plugtray plants. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Pot up young Lewisia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Grow Lewisia in full sun on any neutral to acid, well drained soil. Lewisia particularly dislikes wet conditions. On heavier soils, incorporate plenty of grit to improve drainage, prior to planting.
Feed and water Lewisia plants regularly throughout summer. Deadhead faded Lewisia flowers frequently to encourage more blooms to be produced. Lewisia plants can be overwintered if protected from winter wet. This can be achieved by placing a piece of glass or plastic over the crown of the plant, raised on bricks or similar. Alternatively lift plants and keep them dry in a cold greenhouse.
