Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

The golden foliage of Ligustrum sinense ‘Sunshine’ will brighten your spirits on even the darkest winter days. This versatile evergreen is densely covered with small oval leaves, which produce their best colour when grown in full sun. This compact Golden Privet is fast growing with a neat habit that reaches little more than 1.2 metres (4’) at maturity. It makes a superb low hedge and responds well to pruning, making a great choice for topiary too. Height and spread: 120cm (48").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution.
Ligustrum can be grown as a free-standing shrub or trained as a hedge. Free-standing shrubs will require minimal pruning; simply removed any dead, damaged or diseased growth each spring. Trim hedges in May and again in August. After pruning, mulch plants with 5cm (2”) of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plants. Caution: harmful if eaten.
