The sweet perfumed, late spring flowering blooms of this Lilac Duo Collection are popular with gardeners. These hardy, deciduous shrubs are perfect for the cottage garden as they are easy to grow and make beautiful cut flowers. Great for growing in sunny borders, or as stand-alone specimens to to create focal features in the garden.

Lilac Duo Collection comprises:

Syringa pubescens subsp. patula 'Miss Kim' - Delicate blooms and heart shaped that turns to plum and burgundy in autumn. Height: 2.5m (8’). Spread: 2m (6’, 6").
Syringa josikaea - Slender stems bear airy panicles of small, pink flowers with a sweet perfume. Height and spread: 3.5m (11').

Grow lilac plants in rich fertile, well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Dwarf Lilac plants may be grown in containers if preferred using a loam based compost such as John Innes No.3.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
