This trailing subshrub from Brazil has earned some delightful nicknames such as Clog Plant and Goldfish Plant due to the unusual shape of its waxy flowers. Nematanthus gregarius bears long, trailing stems clothed in small, fleshy, dark green, glossy leaves. Throughout summer, clusters of tubular orange flowers are produced which resemble pouting goldfish darting amongst a backdrop of deep green foliage! Grow it as a hanging plant to highlight its cascading foliage studded with vivid flowers. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 20cm (8in). Width: 50cm (20in).

Grow in ericaceous, loamless compost in bright filtered light with protection from the hot sun and average room temperatures of 18C (65F) - 24C (75F). Water moderately with soft water in spring summer and autumn, allowing the top 2 inches of compost to dry out between waterings. Water sparingly in winter. Apply a balanced fertiliser monthly in the growing season.
