Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Unlike many evening primroses, Oenothera fruticosa ‘Youngii’ keeps its flowers proudly wide open all day! With clusters of satiny, lemon yellow saucer-shaped blooms opening from reddish buds throughout summer, this cheerful evening primrose makes a lovely addition to free-draining borders and naturalistic planting schemes. The narrow evergreen leaves develop a reddish tinge in autumn for added interest. Tolerant of heat and drought, this hardy perennial is an ideal choice for coastal gardens and sun-baked borders in front of south-facing walls. For a stunning combination, pair Oenothera fruticosa ‘Youngii’ with blue or purple-flowered plants that also love well-drained soils, such as agapanthus, eryngium, lavenders and Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 40cm (16in).
